Last Week
Writing from Waterton National Park in Canada – absolutely beautiful day to share a project update. Last week covered the app’s value proposition and target audience. This week: the development timeline.
Project Timeline
Started development on January 1, 2025, with a clear roadmap:
2025 First Half
- Target: Android MVP alpha on Google Play Store
- Deadline: June 30, 2025 (two weeks away)
- Status: Confident for closed testing release
- Few items to tighten up, but on track
2025 Second Half
Two main objectives:
- Debug and polish the alpha MVP – ensure smooth, bug-free, inviting user experience
- Complete iOS version – leveraging Kotlin Multiplatform’s shared codebase, but iOS needs additional attention
2026 Roadmap
- First Half: Android app with differentiating features (the “crown jewel” that sets us apart)
- Second Half: iOS version with full feature parity
What does it mean in English?
I’m building this app step by step. First, get a basic Android version working by end of June. Then make sure it works on iPhones by end of this year. Next year, I’ll add the special features that make this app unique compared to competitors.
Nerdy Details
Using Kotlin Multiplatform means most business logic is already shared between Android and iOS. However, iOS still requires platform-specific UI work and testing to ensure native feel and performance.
The phased approach allows for:
- Early user feedback through closed alpha testing
- Iterative improvements based on real usage
- Solid foundation before adding complex features
Next Week
Back to the office for the final push toward that June 30 alpha release. Time to ship!
